"If you've only seen the Grand Canyon, you've seen nothing."
Sorry, Dennis, but the Grand Canyon is a whole lot of something. You should have said, "If you've only seen the Grand Canyon, you've barely scratched the surface," or words to that effect.
I went to college at UCLA, majoring in Biology and Quantitative Psychology. After college, as the mother of two (later three) wonderful children and with a voracious interest in early learning, I started taking classes in early childhood education. Despite knowing that they would be teaching Piaget, whom I held in contempt, and Dewey, who was a moron, I was only slightly prepared for the tripe they taught us. Worse still was knowing that the other twenty students in my classes were going to become professional teachers and mold little minds. And now it's clear, at least to me, why our education system is failing.
